A day in the life of an engineer
No two days are the same. One day I might be onsite supervising trial pits or borehole drilling, the next I will be in the office writing a ground investigation report. The variety was the main draw to the company, each site comes with a different challenge – sometimes it is tricky access, sometimes it might be working with the occupants of a site to achieve the fieldwork aims as well as minimising disruption to tenants. In the office, I am involved with the project from start to finish, working with colleagues presenting data, interpreting ground investigation findings to advise foundation designers or communicating a contamination issue to a client.
